"For the First Time"

Finally watched the movie “For the First Time”. Since I left the office by the dot yesterday but was quite lazy to go home yet, I thought of treating myself out. Good that Cinema 1 of Festival Cinema was still showing the Richard-KC movie even if it was already on its third week; well, the movie may really be a hit for it lasted that long! I really planned to watch it... but I didn't know why I wasn't able to do so during its first two weeks of running! Now that I have watched it, time for a little critique-ing!

I actually expected it to be just a feel-good movie and nothing else! The story was simple ~ a happy-go-lucky son (Richard) of an ex-Vice President bumped with the trying-hard-to-impress-her-dad-in-managing-their-business pretty girl (KC) in Santorini, Greece where the former bought a small cafeteria and the latter was off for a vacation accompanying her “yaya” who is to meet her pen-pal who apparently, was the manager of the earlier mentioned cafeteria. Incidentally, Richard's character was the ex-boyfriend of all the girl friends of KC's character, where the “hate~twist” part of the story evolved. Just like any other romantic movies, the two eventually fell in love but was too cautious of the risks they would have to take if they will push the relationship through ~ Richard losing his free-spirited attitude and KC finally losing her dad's trust and confidence in managing their real estate business.

KC was hmm, very pretty and unlike her mom during her “Dear Heart” movie, KC showed some skin by wearing swimsuits (with beach dress on top but you can still see her swimsuits inside). She also has a scene where she just got out of the bathroom wearing her bathrobe and was so wet! Richard was expectedly playing the usual boy-next-door role. KC and Richard look good together ~ the chemistry was there and the sweetness was natural. I wouldn't be surprised if they would eventually end up as a couple. Let's wait for their Valentine movie if there would be developments.

Acting wise, the two of them were still “raw” ~ it was only KC's first movie so you could expect her to be a little amateur-ish on this one. With Richard, it was still the same acting, errr... dull (hope Anabelle Rama wouldn't read this blog!). The saving glory was Phillip Salvador's character... in him, you will really see what a brilliant actor is!

The location was fascinating. If only I am rich and capable, I would like to go to Santorini. I loved the plain white paints of all its establishments and houses. The beach water was also clear... and yes, the sunset there was simply lovely!

I had a few quotes from the movie but I apologize if I was not able to get them in verbatim for it was hard to write inside the dark movie house (these quotes though may have been said already and common to you):

"Six years... Six years Dad, that you've seen me but have not really look at me...."
"How can you expect to manage this business when you can't even manage yourself, Sophia?"
"When you start to fall in love, you will eventually lose yourself and just give in whatever it takes..."

Over-all, the purpose of the movie was attained. It established the new loveteam of KC and Richard with its box-office result. It entertained moviegoers since we all felt good leaving the movie house. It had its little lessons ~ family matters most, love will defy all odds, etc. And lastly, it helped me pass my two hours of existence not worrying much of all the woes I have inside me.

I am still a John Lloyd Cruz fan though.... add Sarah Geronimo... the “sun dance movie” is still my fave....

KC Concepcion? Of course I am a fan! Richard Gutierrez? I am a John Lloyd fan! (Anabelle – don't read my blog, please!). Hehehe...
